Since we have been learning the different way writing and groups of people have been classified and grouped together I have learned about genres. Genres are ways social interaction are defined and created within a discourse community. It also creates ways texts provide typified ways we do activities such as Patient Doctor History forms. It provides a way of how we go about conducting ourselves in the doctors office. Genres are just another way for me to identify groups and expand what I know about writing.

After gaining more knowledge on the different aspects of writing I can identify more specific way people view communities. For example activity systems had been one of the new topics that we have been discussing in class. An activity system is a group or multiple groups of people that share the same tools and motives to get their "job" done. The way I have been looking at different communities of people has drastically changed since the first day of class. Learning from the basic Discourse communities and going in depth with specifics as really had eye opening changes. Also using the different templates that are given in the texts that we have read has really allowed me to enhance my writing in the best ways possible.
